ISAE4W International Summer Academy in Engineering for Women

What is the ISAE4W?

ISAE4W - International Summer Academy in Engineering 4 Women

We are very happy to announce that the 10th International Summer Academy in Engineering for Women - ISAE4W takes place from 9th to 24th July 2024

The International Summer Academy for Women in Engineering (ISAE4W) offers an ideal opportunity for a selected group of highly-motivated and talented women (high school, college or undergraduate students) to experience top-class and challenging university-level coursework.

The Academy’s intensive, two and a half week programme combines sophisticated theory with hands-on practical experience in engineering and natural sciences. In addition to knowledge transfer in these fields, social, cross-cultural and gender aspects are covered and discussed during lectures and workshops.
A team of highly qualified academic staff from our university as well as from other universities and organisations will provide scientific and technical background on workshop topics and information about the role of women in science and their opportunities in scientific careers.

If you wish to apply for this year’s Summer Academy please send an e-mail to isae4w@fh-ooe.at. The application deadline is April 30th, 2024.

Get some insights into the ISAE4WClass of 2022

22 girls from 12 countries gained new experiences abroad in and around Upper Austria and not only studied technical subjects in the workshops and seminars, but also made new friends in an intercultural and interdisciplinary network.

The participants travelled from Mexico, Chile, Spain, Ireland, Columbia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, Malaysia, Sweden and the United States of America to Austria, in compliance with all quarantine regulations.

The organisers, Dr Claudia Probst and Dr Karin Nachbagauer, welcomed students from a wide range of technical backgrounds. With different workshops, they tried to reflect the diverse interests of our participants, but also the range of technology. The programme included exclusive insights into the world of hydropower, space technology, ethical and sustainable product design, Internet of Things for astronomical observations, current projects in medical technology and robotics. The experience was rounded off with excursions to the Kepler-Clock in Grieskirchen, hydroelectric power plants, the company Rosenbauer and the Ars Electronica Center. Of course, the participants were able to experience the culture and beauty of Austria: an excursion to the Grünberg and Traunsee-lake, swimming in the Ödtersee, a visit to a Mostheuriger, and a guided tour of the city of Wels rounded off the academic programme culturally as well.

In addition, the participants visited Hallstatt, Salzburg, Vienna etc. on their own during the free weekends.
