FOR MASTER'S DEGREE APPLICANTS

Minimum requirement is a Bachelor Degree. It must be a degree from a recognized University in Kosovo (this will be also audited by the study programme administrator).

Language Requirements

Applicants from Kosovo prove their proficiency in the language(s) of instruction at the time of their application. Depending on the degree programme, language certificates for German (at least B2) or English (B2 certificates: TOEFL 78-109, IELTS 5.0-6.5, FCE grade B or C, CAE 45-59) must be presented. TOEFL in Kosovo can be done in two centers: The American Advising Center and the American University Kosovo (A.U.K).

International Foundation Programme

If you don't have yet the necessary (language) skills or miss sufficient credits in mathematics/physics/English for the selected study degree programmes. The FH Upper Austria offers for those applicants an International Foundation Programme. Students will be enrolled as external students during the time of programme which lasts one academic year. This enrollment allows for obtaining visa and student residence permit.

Visa

As Kosovo is considered not an EU/EEA country, a visa and a residence permit is required. To do so financial means of support need to be present in the applications. Furthermore, because of bilateral means between Kosovo and Austria each document issued from Kosovo authorities needs to be legalized by the Austrian Embassy in Prishtina in order to properly continue your studies in Austria and apply at the embassies for the visa and the residence permit. These documents include: the High School Diploma, Grade Transcripts, Birth Certificates and so on.

For visa and residence permit application you will need to refer to the Austrian Embassy in Skopje as the one in Prishtina does not cover these applications. Be aware that timing needs to meet your timeline as the Austrian Embassy in Skopje has a heavy schedule and it is preferable to apply for a residence permit 3-4 months prior to coming to Austria to start studies. After having a confirmation for the residence permit you will have to apply for a Visa D to enter Austria.
