All students have the option of completing part of their studies at a comparable university abroad. Nevertheless it is necessary to coordinate such wishes with the curriculum of their degree programme and the respective head of studies. The International Office on campus will assist students with the organisation of their studies abroad. At present, the FH Upper Austria is connected with over 200 partner universities worldwide. Our students can participate in exchange programmes with these institutions for last one or two semesters. Typically, tuition fee will be waived at the partner university. Students can also go abroad for a semester as a "freemover", but will have to pay tuition fee in this case.
In both cases, any courses completed abroad must be sufficiently equivalent to their study program at home and therefore eligible for replacing missed requirements. This means that a semester abroad does not delay your progression towards your academic degree.
There are numerous ways to finance a semester abroad. For more detailed information, please refer to Scholarships & Grants.
Each fall the four campuses offer information events on the topic of "studying abroad and internship abroad". Detailed information can be found in the newsletter of the International Offices which are published at the beginning of the academic year.
Please start organizing your semester abroad about a year before you intend to leave.
