Goals of R&D

In the last years the Federal State of Upper Austria has invested over 93 million Euro in the modern infrastructure of the University of Applied Sciences at the four schools in Hagenberg, Linz, Steyr and Wels. After restructuring the organization in one concentrated R&D department and research centers at each campus, the university provides optimal transfer of technology and know-how to industry.

What goals do we pursue for and with our partner enterprises?

Meeting the changing needs of industry, commerce and the wider economy is the driving force behind research and development at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. The main purpose of the university’s R&D is to enhance its co-operation partners’ competitiveness with innovation and new technologies, and to support Upper Austria as a business location with the implementation of research results.

Additionally, our study programmes benefit from synergies between R&D, teaching and industry. Our students and graduates are always up-to-date with state of the art technologies and are therefore highly qualified for jobs in high-tech industries and/or institutions in the health and social services.

Research & development should be one of the highest mandates for any business and is the driving force behind innovation. The university’s research and development divisions conducts wide-ranging investigatory and project-based studies that closely mirror advances in the economy at large. The main focus is on research that will lead to sophisticated and practical applications for the benefit of commerce and society.

Our know-how in R&D covers 16 main areas of research that reflect the evolving body of knowledge in the 21st century like Informatics, Communications and Media, Applied Health and Social Sciences, Management as well as Engineering and Environmental Sciences.
