IPM intensifies Design cooperation with Finish partner university in Lahti

The Master’s degree programme IPM strives to provide its students with an international environment already during their studies, e.g. through experiences abroad during their studies, or through Internationalization@Home. In order to further expand this offer, and as part of the further intensification of the cooperation with the degree program Innovation and Product Management, a delegation from the Design Institute of a partner university in Lahti/Finland recently visited the Wels campus. The design department of the Lahti University of Applied Sciences (LAMK) is among the leading educational institutes for design in Finland.

A part of the delegation was the dean Mrs. Essi Pullinen, educational manager Mr. Arto Kutvonen, principal lecturer Mrs. Dr. Mirja Kälviäinen, and international relations manager Mrs. Sari Horn. They took advantage of their two-day stay on our campus to benchmark facilities and operations, as well as to discuss the further cooperation between the institutes, especially at the Masters level.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Mirja Kälviäinen from the design department at Lahti University of Applied Sciences as a guest lecturer in our program. She brought her many years of expertise in research and teaching of sustainable design to the course Design Theory in the IPM(MA) specialization Product Concept Design. In line with the focus of both partners on sustainable design, she focused the course on methods and their application to achieve more sustainable design solutions.
