Increasing volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity of a company's environment make it more and more challenging to develop innovative products, services and business models.
Future innovation and product managers therefore need to apply a broad set of skills, combining the disciplines of marketing, design, technology and strategic management - which is the main focus of this Master's degree programme. Moreover, students are equipped with the latest academic knowledge in the areas of agile management, entrepreneurship and sustainability. All aspects of holistic innovation and product management are taught both theoretically and practically, encompassing several projects together with leading companies.
This cutting-edge know-how is delivered in two specialisations, namely "Product Concept Design" and "Development Process Engineering".

Innovation and Product Management is an international and interdisciplinary degree programme with students from more than 20 countries. Intercultural aspects and strategies in all disciplines are a cornerstone of the curriculum.
To prepare the graduates to be sucessful in international companies they learn how to integrate marketing, design and technology in a holistic way combined with strategic thinking. In an interdisciplinary training concept, the various aspects of integrated innovation and product management are taught both theoretically and practically.

Being responsible for high-tech products and services they play a decisive role in the conception and market positioning of technical innovations and thus secure the long-term success of companies.
Additionally they possess core competence in strategic R&D and innovation management. They develop sound marketing and design strategies to differentiate their products from those of competitors.
Practice and Research
Our teaching is highly practical, and students will work closely on practical problems provided by international firms in small, intercultural and inderdisciplinary teams, guided by our experienced professors.
For that, we offer cutting-edge equipped labs, software as well as hardware. The final thesis will be written for and in a company.
You will also have the chance to work alongside our professors in academic research projects in the fields of innovation, agile management or engineering management.

You will need a completed Master's (Mag./DI) or Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) from a recognized higher education institution in order to fulfil the entry requirements for the IPM Master’s degree programme.
In addition, your previous studies should contain courses in Business and Marketing, Mathematics and Statistics, Natural Sciences and Engineering and Professional Skills. If you don’t have enough knowledge in the single subject areas, they can be made up during the first semester.
All applicants are required to submit an official and current (maximum 2 years) English language certificate (TOEFL “78 Points” or IELTS “6.0 – Competent User”). German skills are not required.
The IPM Master's degree offers a unique combination of skills in the area of marketing, design, technology and strategic management - everything a future innovation / product manager needs to succeed in a VUCA world.
No, usually you will be at the campus three days a week. We keep Mondays free and schedule one day with online classes where you can attend from home.
