AMM Fieldtrip to BRP Rotax

The AMM class was invited for an industry tour of BRP Powertrain Rotax in Gunskirchen on November 22nd 2017. Rotax, a partner company with the AMM program, gave a presentation on the company history, a focus on their product range and some insights into the work life and atmosphere of the company. This excursion also included a tour of Rotax’s vast manufacturing floor, where the students got to see production flow of the latest engines for Rotax products such as Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo and Can-Am.

From crankshaft machining to final engine assembly, the tour offered students a better understanding of how a powertrain company manufactures their products and some of the processes they implement into their production line. The tour ended with refreshments and the opportunity for students to ask questions about future career opportunities. With the AMM structure, students will begin part time work at Rotax, earning their way to full time work while also completing their master’s thesis.
