The third year: PRESSING THE AMM START BUTTON…

The third class of the unique dual Master´s degree program Automotive Mechatronics and Management started with a varied kick-off event on 1st of October 2018.

The future of motor vehicle´s competitiveness will be determined by the performance of their mechatronic systems and therefore specific expertise in the mechatronic disciplines, combined with management and social competences, will be central requirements of future employees and managers in the motor vehicle industry. Precisely these requirements are the focus of the international Master’s degree programme Automotive Mechatronics and Management (AMM).

The Unique dual master´s programme Automotive Mechatronics and Management started with a two.day kick-off event from 1st until 2nd of October 2018. The aim of this event was not only to hold the first course in intercultural competences but also to getting to know each other and become “one team”.

On the first day the AMM students vistited “fahr(T)raum – the Ferdinand Porsche World of Experience“ in Mattsee. In the course of an intensive guided tour, the international students learned about the Austrian roots of Ferdinand Porsche and were delighted by the many innovations that were invented by this genius engineer.

The event continued to Mattighofen, where the AMM students were invited to visit the KTM Headquater in Mattighofen. The agenda included a comprehensive guided tour through the R&Ddepartment, a tour through the production and an invitation to the  KTM employee restaurant together with AMM alumni who already started their career at KTM. The highlight was undoubtedly the presentation of Philipp Habsburg (head of R&D and member of the executive board of KTM), who gave valuable insights into the strategy of the company. Driven by the passion of its employees, KTM has already become the biggest European manufacturer of motorcycles, with a 10% market share in Europe and a 6.0% share in the US, as well as achieving more than 1,14 billion Euro annual turnover.

After this professional highlight, an Austrian-specific highlight was scheduled - Salzburg! A guided tour through the oldtown of Salzburg impressed especially the international students. That busy day closed with a dinner in the cosy and famous Sternbräu.
The second day concentrated on the very course intercultural communication, which focussed the key principles and processes of intercultural communication. “I am very pleased that these two days again brought our AMM students from 11 nations close together. From now on they act as a highly motivated team and I look forward to the next two years”, sums up Program Director Prof. Kurt Gaubinger.
