Steyr - a city to fall in love with ... & study there

Hardly any other Austrian city has the enchanting flair of Steyr. Perhaps the most beautiful campus in Austria is located directly at the confluence of the Steyr and Enns rivers and just 5 minutes from the historic city center.

Home Steyr Campus Living in Steyr

Small Town or Big City? Neither.

A new chapter begins with your studies and choosing where to study is an important step. Steyr offers everything you need as a student: From leisure activities, various housing options for students to a modern, young campus with student festivals.

Familiar campus, people know and meet each other

There are currently around 1,400 students studying on campus, including many international guest students. It never gets boring here. Steyr, with a population of around 42,000, is a medium-sized city in Austria and is easily accessible by public transport. You can quickly reach Linz or Vienna in around two hours. This means that students find the perfect mix of city and countryside in Steyr.

Being a Student in Steyr ...

New friends, parties and much more

Whether Boatmania or Running Diner, International Evening or Spritzerstandl - in Steyr, students organize entertaining events that make campus life more colourful. There are also sporting activities with many different disciplines.

Whether it's down-to-earth food and live music at the Schmankerlmarkt, summer cinema fun at the open-air cinema or sporting activities in and around Steyr: there's always something going on here. Around the campus there are cozy pubs and bars right by the water or you can meet up in the canteen.

And if you don't know anyone yet, it won't stay that way for long! There are various welcome events at the start of your studies. You also get to know lots of fellow students there. By the way: there are also many international students in Steyr.

Sport and leisure

In Steyr there are many discounted offers and memberships for students (also through our sports club). There is something for everyone: from yoga to indoor climbing, volleyball or soccer and of course courses at the fitness center. There are many running routes, an outdoor pool with indoor pool and sauna, golf courses, ice skating rink, fun court, skate park and much more.

For nature lovers, Campus Steyr is the perfect place to study. The campus itself is right on the River Steyr. You can even go swimming or stand-up paddling there in the summer when it's hot.

Skiing fans can reach great ski resorts such as Hinterstoder, Wurzeralm in Spital am Pyhrn etc. in less than an hour. The Kalkalpen National Park, the Enns Valley, the Steyr Valley and the Upper Krems Valley are very close by and offer many opportunities for leisure and sport. You can go hiking, climbing or mountain biking there.

The FH OÖ sports club also offers an extensive program.

Culture and Events

Numerous events, concerts, antique and trade markets make a visit to Steyr a varied and unforgettable experience. Annual events such as the Steyr City Festival and other city events such as "Steyrer Män", "Fun Night", the beach volleyball tournament and the music festival enliven Steyr's old town. We highly recommend a night watchman tour, which provides completely new insights into the history, culture and architecture of the city.

Steyr as a business location

Steyr has helped shape industrial history. Through Josef Werndl and the Steyr Daimler Puch factories, which developed from iron processing into an industrial group. Research and innovation were always a driving force behind the successes and ensured survival in times of crisis.

Today, the successors of the Steyr plants are alive and well in global market leaders such as ZF, Steyr Motors, Magna Steyr, SKF, NKE, BMW and CNH. In addition to these leading companies, there are a large number of innovative suppliers. New industrial and economic sectors have also settled in this dynamic biotope and have succeeded.

Although the industrial and economic power is noticeable, other elements dominate the cityscape. An intact old town with a cozy flair, crossed by the rivers Steyr and Enns, form exciting contrasts.
