#THROWBACK

25 YEARS, 25 PICTURES, 25 STORIES

Start of the first degree programme

In 1995, the first FH degree programme "Production and Management" was launched in Steyr at the School of Business & Management. The first team in the founding year was small but distinguished. from left: Heimo Losbichler, Fritz Milcke, Martina Neuhauser, Herbert Jodlbauer.

Year of foundation

In 1995, the year of its foundation, a ceremonial opening was a must. The picture shows FH sponsor and former councillor for economic affairs Christoph Leitl, the mayor of Steyr Hermann Leithenmayr and head of the degree programme Herbert Jodlbauer.

The topping-out ceremony

There was a great deal of interest from students, and so a corresponding need to create more space for the Steyr University of Applied Sciences. In 1997, the city decided to convert the former cutlery factory in the Wehrgraben for the new needs of FAZAT, Profactor and the University of Applied Sciences. The picture shows the 1997 celebration of the same event with FAZAT CEO Walter Ortner, Councillor of Economic Affairs in Upper Austria, Christoph Leitl and the Minister of Science Caspar Einem. The opening followed in 1998.

Dancing on the construction site

How cool is that? The FH construction site with dancing workers in 1997 (this is a show in the context of the topping-out ceremony).

First Sponsion

The pioneers! An FH diploma course took four years. In 1999, the first graduates of the pioneer study programme "Production and Management" celebrated their graduation as "Diplom-Ingenieur (FH)".

First Boatmania

Celebration is also not neglected at the Management Campus. Legendary and still a highlight every year is the Boatmania. The picture shows the Professor*innen Dream Team from 1999 with Michael Dean, Heimo Losbichler and Ogril (in front), Sandra Losbichler, Joachim Althaler, Herbert Jodlbauer and Maria Henatbichler (formerly Heindler) in their "Very Hungry Caterpillar" made of tractor inner tubes.

Cooperation agreement

Cooperation with companies is an essential component of the successful practical management training at the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences in Steyr. Many Upper Austrian companies are partner companies of the FH OÖ Campus Steyr. Of course, Upper Austria's leading industrial company, voestalpine, cannot be left out. The picture shows the signing of the cooperation agreement in 2003 with the then CEO Hans-Jörg Kirchweger, Franz Staberhofer, Heimo Losbichler, Horst Panzer, CEO Peter Acklerauer (from left to right)

Visit Heinz Fischer

In his first year as Federal President, Heinz Fischer also visited the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences in Steyr. In 2004 the FH sector also celebrated its 10th anniversary. The picture shows Herbert Jodlbauer, former site manager, on a tour of the campus with the Federal President.

Handing over the keys

In October 2004, after a 16-month construction period, the new university building in the Wehrgraben (today FH II) was opened with a usable area of 960 m2. The picture shows the symbolic handing over of the keys to student representative Thomas Oberndorfer by Governor Josef Pühringer, Viktor Sigl, Councillor for Economic Affairs in Uppper Austria and the Mayor of Steyr David Forstenlechner (from left to right)

Beer-Race

Study completed - let's party! The traditional Beer-Race has been around since 1998. Students and professors go on a last tour through the city of Steyr and have to solve "difficult tasks" on their way back to the campus ;-) The participants always come from the final year. And: What happens at the Beer-Race, stays at the Beer-Race.

Princess Anne

What an honour! Royal visit of Princess Anne in 2007 at a logistics conference in London. She was particularly interested in the contributions of our Steyr professors* and students. The picture shows Karin Ertl, Herbert Jodlbauer and Princess Anne (from left to right).

Alumni Kickoff

Once an alumni. Always an alumni. The inter-faculty alumni club was founded in 2010. More than 1.200 Steyr alumni are currently members. The picture shows the team of the first hour with the Steyr chairman DI (FH) Thomas Gierlinger (2nd from left, back row) and Provincial Councilor Doris Hummer (4th from left, row 1).

FH Ball

For a long time the FH Dance was a fixed point of the Steyr dance season in the Museum Arbeitswelt or in the Stadtsaal. The motto in 2014: "Out of Control - The Festival of Shadows". In the picture: Barbara Mayr, Aline Kesehage, Elke Schlemmer, Doris Tame, Marlies Schmidthaler (from left)

Ground-breaking ceremony FH III

In October 2017, the time had finally come: With the ground-breaking ceremony for the new FH III building, nothing more stood in the way of the further expansion of the management location in Steyr. The local dignitaries then also had their hands full.

Opening FH III

In 2019, more than 400 guests celebrated the opening of the new FH III building including a roof-top party and light show.

Opening FH III

Architecturally an eye-catcher and located directly on the waterfront, it provides an additional 4,500 m² of space for study and research.

Opening FH III

In total, the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences, Campus Steyr now comprises three buildings and 13.300 m² of space of modern lecture halls, seminar rooms, laboratories and working space.

Graffiti

stay infamous...FH III is located at the former gasworks site, where until 2017 young artists found a place for their colourful graffiti styles. The graffiti tradition will be continued, however. The beginning is made by our graffiti artist Slavko from Steyr, known by the tag "Super".

International Fair

Mmmhh...that was delicious! Hwa Che (non-alcoholic punch, in melon), Ssoya (sausages in chilli sauce) and Zoomuk from South Korea, dumplings from Thailand, brigadeiros (chocolate pralines) from Brazil or a Ukrainian borscht. Every year, international students at the Steyr campus organise the International Fair, one of the highlights at the Steyr campus, for their Austrian peers. Our tip: Be sure to come to the next event.

Opening Josef Resselzentrum

2019 There is no ivory tower on the Steyr campus. On the contrary: applied research is one of the particular strengths of the University of Applied Sciences. With its research teams consisting of over 100 academic staff and professors, the Upper Austria University of Applied Science, Campus Steyr establishes trendsetting research in manufactruing, logistics, digital business, controlling and global business. The Steyr faculty plays a pioneering role in the field of management and digitisation.

Christmas lighting

It's very much christmas time also at Campus Steyr.
The light installation in December 2019 made the university of applied sciences visible far beyond the borders of the Wehrgraben. 2020, to be continued.

Congratulations!

More than 5,500 students have already successfully completed their business studies at Campus Steyr.

Award ceremony 2020

"Success becomes you!" This is what we say to all our graduates. A few of them are honoured annually with the Chimney Award for their outstanding academic achievements. The picture shows the prizewinners from the year 2020; Regional Director Manfred Leitenbauer, Sparkasse Oberösterreich, Councillor for Economic Affairs and Research Markus Achleitner and the six Chimney Award winners.

Virtual-Management-Talk

Events have a long tradition on the Steyr campus. Neither fun nor facts are missed out here. One example of this is the "Management-Talk", where top managers regularly discuss current topics from the world of business and give the audience exclusive insights into their daily work. The picture shows Dr. Alexander Susanek, Managing Director of the BMW Group plant in Steyr during the (Corona-related) online talk in June 2020. Other fixed events are the "Forum Production and Management", the "Cross Cultural Business Conference" and the "E-Business Best Practices".
