News: International Week & Conference Day 2010

From May 3rd to 6th 2010 the School of Management of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria hosted the annual International Week for the 6th time.

While the International Week is already well established and well known among Steyr’s partner universities for its perfect networking platform to strengthen partnerships, the Conference Day was new to the programme. Guest lecturers had the possibility to submit papers, present these and engage in scientific discussions with colleagues. The result was many new ties in scientific areas.

“Strengthening scientific ties with partner universities is the next step towards realizing our ambitious internationalization strategy. The conference clearly fulfilled its expectations and thus, will be repeated again next year on a larger scale” says Dr. Herbert Jodlbauer, Dean of the School of Management.

Over 30 guest lecturers from 20 countries taught Austrian and international students during the International Week, in which students were exempted from regular lectures in order to be able to “shop academically” and broaden their views in their academic field of study. The Conference Day  generated the publication of 33 papers.

While teaching and presenting, international faculty and staff members enjoyed guided city tours, a BMW Motors company visit, an MAN Trucks company visit as well as a lively international fair prepared by international exchange students, cooking their traditional food, dancing, and singing with joy.
