Finnish professor specialising in film in Linz

A film expert like Hannu Sirkkilä from our Finnish partner university HUMAK is always sure to attract interested listeners. That was indeed the case in the course “Social Reality in Finnish Films” held in mid-May at Linz Campus of the FH Upper Austria, when students of social work were confronted with the question “What can prospective social workers learn from films?”. Considering the director, Aki Kaurismäki, who is renowned throughout Europe, and his works, that might well be quite a lot……

“It is interesting that there are more similarities than differences between the Universities of Applied Sciences in Austria and Finland” concluded Sirkkilä, who sees an optimal basis for joint projects in this fact. For this guest from the far North, who, despite having visited Austria as a tourist several times, is currently on his first official mission here, university culture, teaching models and quality management were focal points of interest.
