This talk introduces fundamentals of the research field Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). Using different examples of theoretical models and research prototypes from six decades of CSCW research, this talk will demonstrate how this discipline has shaped the design of technologies for digital team work. It also introduces important concepts such as co-located vs. remote collaboration, asynchronous vs. synchronous work, and group and workspace awareness among collaborators.
