Digital Twin - A successful cooperation with Taiwan University NTUST

Great potential for further collaboration in teaching, R&D, internship student exchange and joint supervision

The guest lecture of Prof. DI Dr. Mario Jungwirth at the National University of Science and Technology (NTUST) in Taiwan in December 2018 was the cornerstone for the successful cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria Wels Campus.

A good year later, the first cooperation project "Digital Twin - Demonstrator Predictive Maintenance", which was designed by the NTUST incoming student Liao Chen-Yu under the guidance of Prof. Mario Jungwirth, Prof. Peter Hehenberger and Simon Merschak, MSc, was successfully put into operation. This demonstrator impressively shows the possibilities of intelligent data evaluation using artificial intelligence (AI) with regard to the lifetime prediction of electric drives.

This demonstrator will be used in the future as a training object in relevant courses and projects and will also be available as a reference for further cooperative research and development with the NTUST. A joint publication in the field of "Mechatronics Education" at this year's international conference REM - Research and Education in Mechatronics in Krakow, Poland will also be submitted.
