Studienprojekte

A Metamorphic Code Engine on ARM

The goal for the whole master thesis project is to build a state of the art metamorphic code engine which supports at least the ARM architecture, but preferably has an easy to adopt open design. In this first project we take a look at existing projects and technologies and how they solved this problem. In order to be able to compare different approaches we look into some methods of how to compare multiple generations of a metamorphic code engine like the ngram or opcode graph similarity.

Iris Recognition

An Android application which is capable of taking images of an iris and use a tool chain to segment this picture, extract its features and store the according iris code. The stored iris code then can be used to compare against other already stored iris codes and present the matching results to the user.

Motion Capture with Smart Textiles

A compressive arm sleeve is being equipped with a stretch sensor and a LilyPad Simblee. The stretch sensor is knitted out of conductive yarn and is able to sense the current position of the user's arm. The LilyPad Simblee is used to send the data wireless via BLE to an iOS device, where the result is being visualised.

Intelligent Carpooling System

Every day thousands of commuters are on the roads. Often the way to work of them is very similar or intersects, which enables a big opportunity for carpooling. The problem is that many people don’t know with whom to form a carpool. The aim of the project is to provide an easy to use and high quality matching system to connect commuters and let the form carpools.

Platooning Extension for TraffSim

In this project the TraffSim traffic simulator of the Nemo Research Group will be extended by a platooning model. Platooning is a cooperative driving model where one leader vehicle controlled by an human is followed by some automatically controlled vehicles. This will improve the road capacity and decrease fuel consumption.
