Studienprojekte

A framework for mobile activity recognition

Building a mobile framework that provides human activity information. Developers can use it for building context aware applications or for statistics purposes with human activity information gathered from several users that use their application.

Mobile Positioning System for Android based on Visual Markers

Visual Markers, as used often for Augmented Reality Applications, can also be used to deduce a smartphone's position, using the information gained recognizing multiple markers.

Mobile Driving Assistance System

The need of assistance while driving is shown by several statistics. In about 57% of all accidents, human failure was the only cause and in 90% an additional factor. Only 4.7% where related to the surrounding and 2.4% where caused by mechanical faults. The goal of this project is to design a driving assistance system which operates on a smart phone. Turning a smartphone into a driving assistance system enables support for every driver within every car.

Car2Car Communicaton Link Leve

The Car2Car communication has a variety of possible usages like energy efficient driving, road safety and infotainment. Testing the performance of car2car communication based on the standard IEEE802.11p with a Matlab Simulink simulation. The implementation of 802.11p is used to determine the dependency of the BLER (block erasure rate) on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

3D Face Segmentation Techniques for Mobile Devices

The goal of the master thesis is the implementation of a robust 3D face segmentation technique on mobile devices. A main part is 3D image acquisition including stereo vision techniques on smartphones and the creation of a face database. Finally, a template based face segmentation algorithm is presented that provide images for face recognition systems on smartphones to give a securer, new possibility to authenticate mobile devices with the user's face.
