Projekte sind ein essenzieller Bestandteil des Curriculums von Mobile Computing. Die Studierenden bekommen die Möglichkeit, das im Zuge ihres Studiums erworbene theoretische Wissen selbst praktisch umzusetzen. Ein sowohl für StudentInnen als auch für Lehrende immer wieder spannendes Unterrichtskonzept, in dem schon erfolgreiche Startups wie z.B. runtastic und Butleroy ihre Anfänge gefunden haben.

Network Extension and Remote Visualisation (NERV) is a system which can be used to create a virtual control mechanic - in any cross-media-play gaming system - by use of mobile devices and their sensor technology as input and output in according gameplay situations.

Network Extension and Remote Visualisation (NERV) is a system which can be used to create a virtual control mechanic - in any cross-media-play gaming system - by use of mobile devices and their sensor technology as input and output in according gameplay situations. NERV, based on a cross-platform-engine, is created to archive the goal of cross-platform communication for gameplay reasons between mobile devices and home stations.

This cross-platform-engine faces native C++ for core functions and OpenGL(ES 2.0) as graphical background. The engine should use the advantages of different mechanics archived in courses around (mobile) gaming. NERV is intent to work on many home stations (PC/MAC/ PS3/Xbox360) and mobile devices (iOS/Android/MeGO/PSP(2)/Nintendo (3) DS) in future. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the engine in native C/C++ and additionally it should have a very good component based architecture to switch parts such as physic- or graphics- engines.

This project covers all aspects of designing and implementing an engine which can be used to create games for PCs and mobile devices. It covers mainly the sections rendering (2D), network, sound core function and input systems.
