Studienprojekte

An existing approach to monitor arm carriage in running should be investigated and a comparable solution for a smartwatch shall be designed and implemented.

Ziel

Running is one of the most popular sports worldwide. Almost everyone can do it, but not everyone has the right technique to do it as efficient as possible. One important part of running technique concerns proper arm carriage: one should not drive the arms sideways, which can lead to destabilisation and increased energy consumption. Thus, it is important for a runner to get feedback about wrong arm carriage. This could be achieved with some sensor(s) attached to the arm of the runner and some connected device which provides instant feedback.

An existing approach to monitor arm carriage in running (Christina Strohrmann, Julia Seiter, and Gerhard Tröster: Feedback Provision on Running Technique with a Smartphone. Journal of Ubiquitous Systems & Pervasive Networks Volume 5, No. 1 (2014) pp. 25-31) should be investigated and a comparable solution for a smartwatch shall be designed and implemented.
