Application
Since the very beginning, the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria has been marked by a spirit of innovation and dynamic development. Having established a sound reputation both regionally and nationally, our current focus is on positioning our degree programmes in the international sphere. In order to support our internationalization policy, the state of Upper Austria does not require students who meet the entrance requirements to pay tuition; however, there is a fee for German courses. We would be truly happy to welcome you to our university sometime in the near future!
Regular Students
Students seeking admission to one of the degree programmes of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria require excellent command of German in addition to fulfilling the standard entry requirements (see below).
Exception: The Master’s degree programmes „Global Sales and Marketing“ (GSM), “Interactive Media (IM)”, “Mobile Computing” (MC) and “Innovation and Product Management” (IPM) as well as the Bachelor’s programme “Global Sales and Marketing” (GSM) are taught in English throughout.
Applications can be submitted by post (application form Bachelor, application form Master) or online.
There are three deadlines for application:
January 31st, March 31st and June 30th
Deadline for late applications:
September 1st (Applications submitted after 30th of June will be dealt with availability of places.)
You can apply for up to 3 degree programmes
It is possible to apply for up to 3 degree programmes at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. However, it is strongly recommended that you form a clear picture for yourself about your own interests as well as the content of the individual degree programmes.
In the event of applying for more than one degree programme it is important that candidates indicate their first preference the priority each application has (1 = top priority). The application will be sent to the top priority degree programme where it will be dealt with. The invitation to participate in the entrance procedure and test will be extended by this degree programme.
Application procedure
Applicants for Bachelor’s degree programmes will be invited to an interview and an entrance test. Master’s degree programmes also require an interview, case study or personal statement. The results will be sent to you within three weeks.
If it is not possible to offer you a place on your first-choice degree programme, we will automatically pass your application to the degree programmes which you have nominated as your second or third choice.
Entry requirements
Bachelor’s degree programmes:
- ‘A’’-Level / high school diploma (or equivalent)
- Without ‘A’-Level: Pre-entry course for university or other equivalent type of university entrance qualification
Master’s degree programmes:
Successful completion of at least a 6 semester specialised relevant Bachelor’s degree or a comparable higher education at university level.
For special requirements and recognition of previous qualifications refer to the particular programme of studies.
Graduates of an University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria Master’s degree programme are entitled to follow a PhD course at a university in Austria or abroad.
Exchange Students
Application for study at University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria required documents:

- Photocopy of your passport
Deadline for the receipt of all applications:
- 1st June for the fall term (starting in October)
- 15th November for the spring term (starting in March)
The applications must be submitted directly to the International Office of the campus you have chosen. A letter of acceptance will be sent to you if your application is complete and can be considered. With the letter of acceptance, you can apply for a student visa at the Austrian Embassy in your home country.
