After receiving a letter of admission you will have to manage the following issues:

  • Organise the correct legalization of your documents subject to the current legal state, i.e.
    • If your documents were issued in a country that has a bilateral agreement concerning exemption from legalization, your documents are exempt from any legalization procedure
    • If your documents were issued in a country that are contracting states to the "Hague Legalization Convention", you need a legalization in the form of an Apostille
    • If your documents were issued in a country which are neither contracting parties to a bilateral agreement nor to the Hague Legalization Convention full diplomatic legalization is required, i.e. Firstly, your documents have to be legalized internally (usually by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), secondly, your documents have to be over-legalized by an Austrian diplomatic representation in your home country.
  • Decide about your accomodation in Austria. We can guide you through the application process for a room at the local students dorm (between €195 and €329 per month) or you find some accomodation by yourself
  • Submit the completed confirmation of acceptance, the completed application for admission and the admission for the students hall of residence (if you prefer to take a room at the local students dorm)
  • Transfer the deposit (€50) and the handling fee for the students dorm (€33, just if you prefer to take a room at the local students dorm, then you willl receive a confirmation of accomodation)
  • Apply for your visa and inform us about the expected periond of time for the visa issuing process.

Classes will start on 1 October. Nevertheless you will have to be in Hagenberg by the middle of September because we offer a orientation phase of two weeks for our students, to have the chance for some intercultural training and to have time to meet your academic advisor and colleagues before classes start.

By the beginning of September (at the latest) you will receive detailed information about the following issues:

  • schedule for the orientation phase
  • A study schedule with offered main focus areas - please make your choice and send it back via e-mail
  • A contact person ("buddy") who will guide you through your first time in Hagenberg

After you arrived in Hagenberg you first have to register at the university (Please bring all your legalized original documents with you!). Then you have to manage your registration at the local authority and the district authority (for your residence permit). Furthermore, you have to register for public health insurance (currently € 49,85 per month) which is compulsory in Austria.

After two demanding and diverse weeks of orientation you will be ready to start with classes on
