Medical and Bioinformatics (MBI)

Deployment of the latest information technology is now an essential component of the most effective medical provision and to progress biomedical science. Medical informatics underpins all aspects of optimal healthcare provision for patients while bioinformatics plays a crucial role in biomedical research. Graduates of the study programme "Medical- and Bioinformatics" are qualified to develop and use software which helps among other things to identify the genetic causes of illness, to develop new drugs and to model biological processes to improve medical interventions.

Note for applicants: the main language of instruction is German, although some modules may be offered in English and English language classes are part of the curriculum.

Prerequisites of study:

General university entrance qualification, preparatory course for university acceptance or study preparatory programme at the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences.
Sound knowledge of German, plus interest in IT and technology, interdisciplinary thinking, excellent communication skills and team spirit.
