Directions to Hagenberg

Traveling by car

Hagenberg is located at 14° 30' 55.44" N latitude and 48° 22' 08.06" E longitude. Caution: There is more than one town called "Hagenberg" in Austria. Select the following if you are using a GPS navigation system:

Directions

The easiest way to get to Hagenberg is to come from Linz on highway A7, which ends shortly before Hagenberg. Driving from Linz to Hagenberg takes approximately 20 minutes.

...from Vienna
The shortest route from Vienna is on highway A1 West - take the exit for Enns, Mauthausen, and Pregarten (Landesstrasse 123).

...from Salzburg
Take highway A1 East to the Linz junction, then highway A7 towards Prague.

...from Graz
Take highway A9 to the junction "Voralpenkreuz", change to highway A1 and continue to the Linz junction, then take highway A7 towards Prague.

...from Germany
Via Munich/Salzburg: Take highway A1 to the Linz junction, then take highway A7 towards Prague.
Via Passau: Take highway A8 (border crossing point Suben) to the Linz junction, then take highway A7 towards Prague.

Parking

There are parking spaces for guests directly in front of the main building and in the basement garage. Student parking spaces are located at the north side of the campus (towards Freistadt).

Traveling by Train

Hagenberg is close to the Linz-Budweis-Prague rail line. The closest train station is in Pregarten (4 km from Hagenberg). The journey from Linz (main train station) to Pregarten takes approximately 45 minutes.
If you intend to go by train several times during your stay in Austria, you should buy the "ÖBB-Vorteilscard". The "Vorteilscard" entitles the cardholder to a 45–50% reduction on all tickets for travel on the Austrian Federal Railway System (Österreichische Bundesbahnen). The "Vorteilscard" is available to persons under the age of 26 at a discount price of €19.90 at all Austrian train stations (ID card and a passport photograph required!) and is valid for one year.

Traveling by Bus

Hagenberg is easily accessible with the public bus system from Linz. Since most buses take the main highway, connections are relatively fast. Travelers who have come to Linz by train can easily transfer to busses since the bus station (Busbahnhof) is right next to the main train station (Hauptbahnhof).

Air Travel

The closest aiport is the "Blue Danube Airport" (LNZ) just outside of Linz, with direct flights to London, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Graz, Salzburg, Vienna und Zürich. Public transportation to Hagenberg is available (shuttle bus to Linz) as well as taxi services.
